I really liked the athletic-style power flow and core crunch. I'm also an avid runner, and I'd love a class geared toward runners once a month or something like that--it would focus on limbering up hamstrings and strengthening the core and upper body since running doesn't address that.

I would love to see more Yin Yoga in Madison!

Clean spaces that marry both form & function, and nothing too ornate/froufrou, hopefully! Several different class offerings, but not so many as to overwhelm the newbies... Remember what the Patanjali Sutras have to say about digging too many holes and thus not finding any depths.
ReplyDeleteIs that like chase 2 rabbits catch none?
ReplyDeleteHere is my favorite text from Patanjali. (I have to give creds to Bernie Clark for digging this one up in his YinSights Gem) This is advice on where to practice yoga (what kind of studio)
ReplyDelete.. a small room of four cubits square, free from stones, fire, water, and disturbances of all kinds, and in a country where justice is properly administered, where good people live and food can be obtained easily and plentifully... The room should have a small door, be free from holes, hollows, neither too high nor too low, well plastered with cow-dung and free from dirt, filth, and insects.
Fortunately here in Wisconsin Cow Dung is Plentiful! Now, the Justice part... Liechtenstein perhaps?
ReplyDeleteOkay. I'm being a little wonky for the sake of a laugh. Good Suggestions Everybody. Keep 'em coming.
ReplyDeleteI took my first Bikram class from you 2 years ago and loved your expertise, spirituality and HUMOR!! It is always nice to have instructors that will take the initiative to make suggestions or give options to a student instead of ignoring. And, although we are sweaty, it is great to have "hands-on" help to attain correct form. (Maybe Patanjali should have added the room be free from egos.)
ReplyDeleteOooh, here's one... a women's locker room large enough for EVERY woman to take a shower after class (without having to wait 1/2 hour)...
ReplyDeleteNow THAT's a tough one. I'll see what can be done.
ReplyDeleteWORST YOGA MARKETING IDEA EVER:
All Men's Studio!
Alex, your Yin was awesome, I'd like to see that happening again. And your Flow and Bikram. Simple.
ReplyDeleteAlright I'll add a few: big windows (I liked that glass wall in the older IFY), two mirrored walls so we can see that triangle, shower is good too. And soon! :)
